The Cavern Club, Liverpool
Need we say more? If you don’t know what The Cavern is all about, then you’ve stumbled on this site by accident and must leave immediately, probably back to “Practical Yoghurt- Knitting.com” or something similar.
This man has seen it all. The Beatles at The Star Club? He was there. He recorded them. The Iron Door Club? The Cavern Club? Been there, done that. Still going strong in Hamburg and rocking it better than most. A good friend.
The Savage Young Beatles
Packed full of rare photos, recordings and even some film footage (yes!) of The Beatles before they were famous. I thought I knew just about everything about The Early Years until I came across this site!
Haven’t got Andy Babiuk’s book on Beatles Instruments? Then this is the next best thing. Comprehensive list of the successive guitars of John, Paul and George (Ringo is soon to follow!)
Hofner Guitar Miscellany
Known to Hofner buffs simply as “Steve Russell’s site” this is by far the best and most informative site on Hofner guitars and basses. If you want to know anything about that old guitar your dad gave you, look no further.
The British Beatles Fan Club
Still going strong after all these years!
The Macca Report
Detailed, comprehensive news on what the Messiah has done, is doing and is going to do. Great concert reports, a blow-by-blow account for each one. Jorie Gracen is just as big an anorak as us!
Remember - Merseybeat was definitely NOT only about The Beatles! Here we have a selection of the other bands involved at the time, together with photos and sound clips galore. Not sure of the line up of The Dennisons? This is the site for you!
We shared the bill at The Cavern with these guys recently, and their set list made us envious! If you want to see a band who do the whole Hamburg thing - they even look the part - then they are a must! Brilliant band.
The Shakers are another four lads from Liverpool who authentically recreate the look and the sound of those Liverpool days and Hamburg nights, from the Cavern to the Star-Club. Covering the period 1960 -’64, this fab beat combo perform the hits, misses, B-sides and lost classics from that golden age of Merseybeat. And they’re mates of ours as well, so why not plug their site?
Our old mate Pete Dicks of BeatlesandBeyond often features us on his radio show on Forest FM A long-time regular of Beatle Week, he has special recording equipment which makes us sound great live. And in tune.
