Not content with recording a CD, we’ve also been updating our publicity, with a new poster (see gallery page), and now some new photos, just to show how much we’ve…er…changed in the two years since the last ones were taken.
One new aspect of the photos is we are finally shown in our “Merseybeat” get-up, i.e. shirts, ties and waistcoats to cater for the smarter end of the market, and people who just don’t get what a Hamburg-style beat group is all about, (oh, yes, there are quite a few!)
We won’t pretend that it was easy to get us into shirts and ties - there were a lot of tearful tantrums - but it all turned out for the best, really. Plus the new “leather jackets” photo makes us look mean, moody and magnificent, as befits windswept and interesting showbiz personalities like us. Let us know what you think.
We’ve had so many requests from people, most of them unprintable, but just a few asked us if we had a CD for sale. Until now, the answer has been no, but despair not, dear fan, because we’ve recently been into the recording studio! Oh yes.
Mid February saw the intrepid trio that is Flashback head off down to the wilds of Nottingham (passports in hand, of course) to Comfy Towers recording, owned by our good mate Ian Watts of The Silver Beatles and The Come Together Band. To make it cooler, we’d just finished four nights of gigs, culminating in a late night session at The Cavern only hours previously – ha! Three days recording, with a day’s break (to do yet another gig) left us with twelve tracks that now just require mixing. And adjusting the guitar work. And drums. And editing the vocals to make them in tune. Still, not bad, eh?
Although we had only planned on putting down five or six tracks in three days, we proved to be so professional that most songs were done in one or two takes. Of course, some cynics might say that we were just slapdash in letting sub-standard performances suffice, to which we would reply that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if they would like to meet us (and our baseball bats) to express it, we will gladly oblige.
Anyway, everything went swimmingly, and as soon as Ian recovers enough from spending three days in our company, we will be doing the final mix (early in April). You can go here for some photos of the momentous occasion.

50 YEARS OF THE CAVERN CLUB
You can now find pictures and a report on the celebrations here
WHERE ARE WE GOING, LADS?
April next year sees the 45th anniversary of the opening of The Star Club, Hamburg. Although the club was demolished a while ago, it still has a place in the hearts of MerseyBeat fans as the venue where so many Liverpool bands played in the early sixties, and also where Kingsize Taylor recorded The Beatles on the eve of their rise to fame. To mark the
anniversary there is to be a huge, star-studded festival over the weekend of 14th and 15th April.
The Liverpool section of the festival has been organised by Marga and Ted Taylor, and will include Gala performances from Kingsize Taylor and the (original) Dominoes, The Undertakers, The Mojos, and... FLASHBACK. Yes - US!!!
We fly out on Friday, 13th (oops!), TV, Radio and Press interviews on Saturday, and the show on Sunday, times to be confirmed.
So if you want to come and see us in an authentic Hamburg setting, be there or be square!

FLASHBACK WIN AWARD!
Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, we have won an award! Apparently people in the Wakefield area have voted us their favourite trio of 2006. Quite who these poor, misguided souls are remains a mystery, but we can only give them our thanks, while secretly imagining that we may actually be the ONLY trio to have played in Wakefield this year!
Anyway, the awards ceremony is at Wakefield City Club on Thursday, 16th November and will feature a 45 minute set from the best trio of 2006! See you all there!
MORE NEW SONGS!
In an astounding display of vigour and verve, our favourite Beat Group have learned two - yes, TWO - more new numbers! Will their energy and enthusiasm never end? What else are they going to be galvanised into doing? Will Pete get another haircut?
